Canal Saint-Martin is the quintessentially Parisian and fashionable version of a neighbourhood you can live in for a week without a métro ticket: the water, the iron footbridges, the people sitting on the quay at six in the evening because that is what one does here.
Rue de Lancry itself is the reason people film out of the window. Restaurants, bars and cafés on the street, the canal at the end of it, and Place de la République a short walk away when you want the rest of Paris.
